How taxes work for Dashers
DoorDash pays you as a contractor, so your payouts arrive with no tax taken out. At tax time you report your DoorDash earnings and expenses on Schedule C, then pay self-employment tax and income tax on the profit.
Your DoorDash 1099
DoorDash reports what it paid you on a 1099 form if you cross the federal threshold, and your state may require one at a lower amount. Your tax form and an earnings summary are usually in the Dasher app or the tax portal DoorDash links to. Even without a form, report all of it: base pay, peak pay, promotions and tips.
